JOIN THE SOCIAL ACTION SQUAD

Join the Social Action Squad to fight Hunger and Find Shelter for Those in Need! 

You will have several opportunities to help individuals and families in need.  Each of these:

- Require no long-term commitment.
- Provide immediate help.
- Allow you to do what you can, when you can, if you can.

1.  BRING IN FOOD FOR THE HIGH HOLIDAY COLLECTION THROUGH OCTOBER 

Collection bags can be brought to the Coat Room near the Sanctuary, or the Atrium.

 

2. PACK & ORGANIZE GROCERIES AT CUMAC

ACTIVITY:  Have fun while packing groceries, organizing items at the Thrift Shop, & helping out where needed.

DATE AND TIME:  October 10, meet at Barnert at 9:15 am to organize and carpool to Paterson.  Packing event goes from 9:45 to 11:30 am.
ORGANIZATION: CUMAC, located in Paterson, has been fighting to feed people and change lives for over 30 years.  It works to alleviate hunger and its root causes for those in need in Paterson, Passaic County, and northern New Jersey.  With the help of supporters and community partners, CUMAC operates an array of programs that serve as a social safety net within the community of Paterson and beyond.
NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  10 - 15.

3. SUPPORT ST. PAUL'S SHELTER FOR MEN IN PATERSON

ACTIVITY:   Help prepare or deliver a delicious meal.  You can sign up to cook a portion of the meal, prep in the Temple Kitchen, or take the meal to the shelter and serve.  The meal includes meatloaf, salad, veggie, side dish, dessert, and bread and butter.

DATE AND TIME: October 23, 4 - 5 pm prep, 5 pm transport, 5:45 - 6:45 pm serve.

ORGANIZATION:  St. Paul's Community Development Corporation was founded in 1990 as the outreach mission of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in the City of Paterson, New Jersey.  They are a separate, secular, not-for-profit organization guided by a diverse and voluntary board of directors that bridges racial, economic, geographic, and religious boundaries.  The grateful men of St. Paul's look forward to the hearty meals that Barnert provides on a regular basis.

NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  8 - 10, CHILDREN WELCOME!
