WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE

Our general winter outerwear drive for men, women, and children is also underway.  Any items that can't be used for Midnight Run, including new and gently-used coats, hats, gloves, and scarves, are still welcome.  All sizes accepted.  Donations can be left in the school atrium.  (If donating coats, hangers are greatly appreciated!)

Why Donating Items Matters

Many of us are fortunate and have a great deal of tangible resources in our lives, but there are lots of people who are in need.  A sturdy stroller to a mom fleeing domestic abuse, a warm coat for an adult or child, diapers for needy families, ingredients for a home-cooked meal – these are just some of the many, many ways to “donate stuff.”

Please consider donating to people in need.  We take most items, possibly even furniture.  For more information, please contact Amy Lynn.

Ongoing Collections

While we focus on specific collections throughout the year, you don't need a specific drive to donate.  There is always a need, and we are always collecting the following items:

  • GROCERY GIFT CARDS
Many of the organizations we support also request grocery gift cards.  Click here to purchase grocery gift cards (through Barnert's Sisterhood) that we can donate to the organizations we support.
  • NON-PERISHABLE FOOD
Most wanted items are breakfast cereal, canned tuna, spaghetti sauce, regular pasta (not whole wheat or chickpea), white rice (not brown), canned soups and veggies, nuts, and dried fruit.
  • TOILETRIES AND COSMETIC BAGS
Travel and full-sized toiletries and cosmetic bags to pack them in.
  • REUSABLE TOTE BAGS
Needed by clients of food pantries to carry food.
  • JEWELRY
Women's shelters receive a lot of clothing donations but few pieces of jewelry.
  • SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Crayons, markers, notebooks, backpacks (new or gently-used), glue sticks, tape, watercolors, pens, pencils.
  • Gently-used seasonal clothing
  • Accessories (shoes, hand bags, etc.)
  • Diapers
  • Winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves
  • Supermarket gift cards (ShopRite and Stop & Shop)
Contact Barnert Temple Sisterhood to order.
  • Monetary donations can always be made to Barnert Temple's Social Action Fund.  Click here, and select Social Action Fund from the dropdown list.

Donations can be brought to:
Barnert Temple, 747 Route 208 South, Franklin Lakes
850 Circle Avenue, Franklin Lakes

Questions about donations can be directed to socialjustice@barnerttemple.org or amymlynn@optonline.net.

Got Stuff?

Local shelters have very limited space for storage and can only take seasonal items.  However, if you have multiple bags to donate, please try these convenient pick-up services below.  You can schedule an appointment online, and they will come to your house to pick up your donation.  You just need to leave the bags in front of your home.
