Come Home to Barnert!

ATRIUM BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT

In 2018, the Barnert Temple Sisterhood (BTS) and Barnert Temple Preschool Parents Association (BTPPA) undertook a joint effort to renovate the Barnert Atrium and create a more functional space that could be utilized by all members of Barnert Temple.  Primary funding was provided by the BTS and BTPPA, with additional generous donations from:

DRP Interiors, LLC

Carpets Unlimited, LLC

Heijari Painting, LLC

Pruzansky Plumbing, Heating & A/C, Inc.

Our newly-renovated Atrium has been completely transformed into an area that allows for relaxation and gathering.  The new colors were inspired by the beautiful stained-glass window in the Atrium, and the new decor coordinates with the industrial feel of our school building and provide areas for visitors to sit, charge devices, grab a cup of coffee and gather with others.  Visitors are now able to grab a cup of Nespresso coffee in our Shoshana's Place Coffee Bar for a $1 donation/cup.  More frequent visitors have the option of storing their own Nespresso pods at the coffee bar for a donation of $36/year.

Shoshana's Place is named after our beloved Barnert Temple and Sisterhood member, Sue Siegal.  Sue was an active member of the Barnert Temple Sisterhood who ran the gift shop for many years.  She was also the wife of past Barnert President, David Siegal.  Shoshana was Sue's Hebrew name.  After losing Sue to ovarian cancer, the decision was made to rename the gift shop area after Sue, in memory of her spirit and dedication to Barnert and the Sisterhood.  While the BTS has moved to an online gift shop and the physical gift shop displays are no longer located in the Atrium, we continue to remember and honor Sue by keeping her name displayed in the Atrium.  The Shoshana's Place sign now hangs over the new coffee bar, which will continue to bring people of all ages and stages together at Barnert.
