Alternating Shabbat (Saturday Morning) Courses

Torah Study With Rabbi Rachel Steiner - New Time and Format!

Begins Saturday, October 13, at 9 am. Check calendar for specific dates.

Enjoy a highly engaging exploration of the Torah portion of the week. We will begin our study and discussion at 9 am. Discover the relevance of Torah as we interpret it and bring it to life. On the weeks when we are holding a Bar/Bat Mitzvah service, Rabbi Steiner will leave Torah Study at 10 am, and the group may choose to continue the discussion. New friends are always welcome, and no prior study is necessary. Coffee, tea, and a nosh will be provided.


Rosh Chodesh With Sara Losch, Director of Lifelong Learning

Begins Saturday, September 18, at 9:30 am, once a month.

Experience the rituals and spirituality of Rosh Chodesh, which marks the beginning of the new month. A monthly Barnert experience just for women, when we celebrate and learn together, sharing joy, wisdom and camaraderie. Rosh Chodesh takes place most months at Sara Losch’s Wyckoff home in “the cabin.” We take turns bringing breakfast. We love welcoming new women, so please join us!

Shabbat Yoga with Rachel Dewan

The physical and spiritual meet in exhilaration at Shabbat Yoga. Every level of experience is welcome.

Talmud Study with Rabbi Joel Soffin

Thursdays at 7:30 pm, twice monthly Check calendar for specific dates.

Enter this historic Jewish conversation and discover your own Jewish soul. This is modern day take on the Talmud, where Jewish life is based. Learn how to shop, talk and think Jewishly. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary.

So Many Topics; So Little Time! Sunday Mornings with Rabbi Rachel Steiner 

Sundays, 9:30 am. Beginning Sunday, October 8, at 9:30 am

Rabbi Steiner is excited to explore a variety of subjects in her Sunday Adult Education classes this year. Some topics being considered:

  • Jewish views on death and the afterlife
  • Caring for an aged or infirm loved one while taking care of yourself
  • God: for believers, non-believers and everyone in between
  • Jewish Holiday Happenings
  • Parenting with a Jewish voice
  • Jewish Lifecycles
  • Prayer: What do our prayers mean, and to whom or what are they directed?

Do you have a topic you’d like to explore with Rabbi Steiner?  Please let her know!  Join for every class or just the ones you’re drawn to!

Additional course topics include: Holocaust Education, Adult Hebrew, Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah, and Conversion.  If we are not currently offering something that interests you, please share your idea.  We will work to find the best person to lead that learning.
