Barnert Temple Preschool & Family Center offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of children ages 6 weeks through 6 years. Flexible schedules, including early drop-off, are available to help meet the needs of today's families.
Our programs are open to all interested families. Full Temple membership is not required to enroll in our school. We are also the school-of-choice for many interfaith families. If you are an interfaith family, we encourage you to check us out, as we think you will find our school unique in our understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of interfaith families and children.
Registration is still underway for the 2010-11 school year, but space is limited. Learn more about our programs below or click here for registration forms and details. THE RISING STARS (AGES 2-3)
For most children, this is their first experience in a "drop off" environment. One of our first goals is to help our youngsters manage their feelings concerning separation. We provide a warm, loving environment that is sensitive to their needs so that each child can comfortably move towards separation at his/her own pace. Through the use of story time and song, children learn the beginnings of socialization and early literacy skills. Children are also enriched with music, art, cooking and yoga in addition to a diverse curriculum which covers early basics of science, math and literacy. The year our children spend in the Rising Stars program is often a year of major milestones and accomplishments!

THE BIG SHOTS (AGES 3-4)
This is huge year of development for children. During this year, a child has the capacity to more than double his/her vocabulary.
The Big Shots class utilizes a rich curriculum that incorporates author studies, story development and literary expression to aid in this development. Increasing cognitive skills enable our Big Shots to participate in more varied and sophisticated learning activities; therefore they are immersed in science topics, social studies, social action and early math concepts. Part of our school's mission is to help children develop a love of learning. For this reason, our children are always taught in an engaging and entertaining manner to help make learning fun and exciting.

THE FANTASTICS PRE-K PROGRAM (AGES 4-5)
When children turn four, they are ready for a wide variety of experiences, such as small motor activities, math concepts and problem solving. The Fantastics pre-kindergarten classroom revolves around child-centered activities based on themes that spark the imagination, such as "Meet the Artists" where the children produce their own art show. Our goal is to facilitate and broaden children's development by offering diverse opportunities for emotional, cognitive, physical and social growth. We believe that children are active learners through exploration, artistry, experimentation and play. In our classroom, they have the freedom to learn at different rates and in different ways. Our goal is to graduate children who love learning and are ready for kindergarten.

FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN & KINDERGARTEN EXPLORATIONS (AGES 5-6)
FULL DAYS: MONDAY - FRIDAY, 9 AM - 3 PM
EXPLORATIONS: MONDAY - FRIDAY, 11:30 AM - 3 PM
We receive frequent praise from first-grade teachers who teach graduates of our kindergarten program. Graduates of our program are often better prepared, both socially and academically, than their peers for the first grade experience. Our curriculum and individualized attention give children the support they need to be confident learners who truly enjoy learning.
Our program recognizes that each child is unique. We are able to provide needs-based instruction that focuses on the developmental milestones necessary to enter first grade. By providing an integrated curriculum, we fulfill both academic and developmental standards. Areas of study include language arts, math, social studies, science, health, art, music, handwriting and Judaism. Our student/teacher ratio of 1 teacher/8 students ensures that our kindergarten students receive the individual and small group attention they need and enjoy.
Our Kindergarten Explorations program will make your kindergartner's half day - full! With programs like Marvelous Math, Super Science, and World Explorers, children are given the much needed time to explore topics in-depth and go beyond reading, writing and arithmetic. Our teachers provide many different types of learning activities that stimulate all of the senses. Kindergarten Explorations afternoons also include fun and educational activities such as cooking, Judaic studies, health, social studies, science and outdoor play as well as special programs like yoga and music.
