Barnert Temple invites the community to join them at a visit with award-winning children’s book author Anna Olswanger. The reading and book-signing takes place on Sunday, February 7, from 3 to 4:45 pm, at Barnert Temple, 747 Route 208 South, Franklin Lakes.
The event will feature a read-aloud from Ms. Olswanger’s book
Shlemiel Crooks. Following the reading, the author will talk about how children can research their family history and write a story. The event is suitable for elementary school age children and their families. More information about the book and the author can be found at
shlemielcrooks.com.
According to Lisa Summers, Barnert Temple’s Library Committee chair, the story is intergenerational. “The story holds the greatest appeal for five to ten year olds and their parents,” she explained. “But we encourage grandparents to come along too, since the author will be talking about how kids can interview relatives and write stories based on family history.”
Registration for this event is required. To reserve a spot, email
Natalie Cohen in the Barnert Temple office. The fee to attend the event is $10 per family for families who are not Barnert Temple members.
