Barnert Temple invites the community to join them on
Thursday, April 30, at 6 pm, when we will honor Robert and Ellen Gutenstein, at The Tides Estate, North Haledon.
The Gutensteins, long-time Ridgewood residents, will be presented with first
Rabbi Martin Freedman Humanitarian Award in recognition of their dedication, leadership and charitable work. Bob and Ellen’s tireless support of innumerable Jewish causes, The Valley Hospital Foundation and the Wharton Business School epitomizes the spirit of the award. “For so many years, Bob and Ellen Gutenstein have devoted themselves to helping others," explained Elisse Share, co-chair of the event. "We take pride in recognizing their commitment to Barnert Temple and to their strong belief in helping to repair the world by giving back to the community and building leadership through service."
The event, which includes cocktails, dinner and a silent auction, will feature music by the Aztec Two-Step performing the Simon and Garfunkel Songbook. The musical part of the event will be hosted by Pete Fornatale, rock and roll historian and veteran DJ.
Proceeds from the event will support Homes for Our Troops, as well as Barnert Temple education and outreach programs. Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit organization founded in 2004, builds new homes and adapts existing homes for handicapped accessibility for returning veterans who have selflessly served and returned home with serious disabilities. There are no costs to the veterans served.
