Rabbi Hara Person, editor-in-chief of The Torah: A Women’s Commentary, will speak at Barnert Temple’s Sisterhood Shabbat on Friday, March 6, at 8 pm. Hailed as a “ground-breaking volume,” A Women’s Commentary features new critical approaches such as literary criticism, sociology, and feminism not found in traditional commentaries; and new research and information about the biblical world.
In addition to speaking on Friday night, Rabbi Person will lead Torah study on Saturday morning, March 7. Breakfast will be available at 9:30 am, to be followed by study and discussion.
“We’re excited to host Rabbi Person as she’s in a unique position to provide insight into the Women’s Commentary,” said Annice Benamy, a Barnert Temple Sisterhood member. “We’ll have a chance to ask her about issues important to us as Jews and as women, and this extraordinary resource will be our guide.”
