Barnert Temple is a welcoming Reform Jewish community located in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Our members are connected by the realization that we are part of something larger than ourselves, continually striving to excel at opening doors for ethical and spiritual growth. At Barnert Temple, we are committed to providing relevant, accessible and meaningful Reform Jewish experiences where people of all ages and backgrounds are appreciated and valued, engaged and inspired. Barnert Temple, affiliated with the Union of Reform Judaism (URJ), is proud to participate in and support the great traditions and purposes of the URJ. Founded in 1847, Barnert Temple is the oldest Reform Jewish congregation in the state of New Jersey. We are proud of our enduring heritage and commitment to offering the utmost in caring and support to our members by our outstanding clergy, staff, lay leadership and valued members.

Membership affords you and your children a source of vital spiritual support and makes you a contributor to Jewish religious and cultural life. Barnert Temple offers a variety of membership categories tailored to meet each individual's or family's needs. If you are single, married, a family with children or an empty nester, there is a place for you at Barnert Temple. We are proud of our diverse membership and continually strive to meet the needs of all our members.

Throughout the year, we host a variety of events exclusively tailored for our newest members, as well as frequent activities and fundraisers for the entire congregation. Recent events have included a fall family picnic, prominent American and Israeli guest speakers and musicians, SYNAPLEX shabbat, Mitzvah Mall, BarTY Midnight Run, New Orleans Rebuilding Project, Men's Club Casino Night, a Sukkah party, and Purim Fun Day. The Sisterhood, Men's Club, Choir, BarTY and Lifelong Learning also sponsor events throughout the year. We invite you to view our calendar to learn more about events at Barnert.

Barnert Temple also operates one of the most highly-regarded preschool and religious school programs in the area. Our religious school serves children in kindergarten through high school. The Barnert Temple Preschool and Family Center, currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, offers programs for children ages 2 to 6. Our fabulous preschool and religious school programs are one of the many factors that make Barnert Temple a special place.
