RENAISSANCE COMMITTEE
Who We Are & What We Do
The Renaissance Group was founded to meet the needs of our congregants who are empty-nesters in their middle years. Membership is open to "fifty-something" members, whether married or single, employed or retired.
When congregants' children are no longer part of a Temple's religious school, they often lose some of the ties that bind them to a congregation. Their childrens' education is no longer the reason they are affiliated with a temple. Groups like the Renaissance Group provide these congregants with a unique connection to temple life and a new reason to be affiliated with a temple.
Barnert's Renaissance Group provides opportunities for this segment of our congregation to socialize as a group by organizing activities like theater outings, dinners, and parties at members' homes. Barnert Temple's Renaissance Group is one of approximately 30 such groups in the Bergen-West Hudson Region of the URJ.
