Unplug Those Applicances!
Studies indicate that 75% of energy used to power appliances in the home is used while the appliances are turned off. These appliances (coffee makers, cell phone chargers, laptops, TVs) are called "energy vampires." Try to unplug them when you’re not using them. A power strip canmake it easier to unplug a group of gadgets all at once.

Rid Yourself of Junk Mail
The average U.S. household receives 1.5 trees’ worth of junkmail each year, and many of these trees are thrown right into the trash. Reduce your volume of junk mail by contacting privacycouncil.org. Remember to recycle the junk mail you do receive. We could save $370 million in landfill dumping fees each year just by recycling our junk mail!

SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE

Who We Are & What We Do
The mission of the Social Action Committee is the commitment to the practice of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and fulfillment of mitzvot. To achieve these Jewish values, the committee raises awareness and educates our congregation about the issues of social injustice and the environment, both locally and globally.

Each year, the committee runs a variety of programs that support our mission. Our Steering Committee is comprised of energetic volunteers, each of whom have specific programs to organize - and they can all use your help! No mater what your ability or interest, getting involved with a social action program will make you feel good, and may make a difference in someone else’s life.
