BARNERT TEMPLE'S RESPONSE TO THE SWINE FLU
Dear Friends,
Over the days and weeks ahead, the H1N1 Flu (commonly referred to as Swine Flu) will be more and more on our minds. We'd like you to know where you can get up-to-date information, and what we’re doing at Barnert to keep our community healthy.
We care about you, and will do everything we can to protect us all during this unusual time. As noted below, we will update you on any developments. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
With warm wishes for everyone's good health,
Elyse Frishman,
Rabbi
Pam Himeles,
President
I. What are we doing at Barnert?
Overall:
We are following instructions from Public Health directives. Call us if you have questions or concerns: 201-848-1800
Entering the Building:
There will be hand sanitizers located at each entrance with a sign instructing each person to use it. Hand sanitizers are also located in each classroom, and by the Sanctuary and meeting areas.
Preschool:
All parents were notified earlier this week that if a child displays any symptom, keep the child home. If the teacher or Sara thinks the child is ill, the parent will be called immediately to bring the child home. This is non-negotiable. The same policy applies to our teaching staff. Click here for details about what our preschool is doing.
Religious School:
If your child is displaying any symptoms, keep your child home. If the teacher or Sara thinks the child is ill, the parent will be called immediately to bring the child home. This is non-negotiable. The same policy applies to our teaching staff.
Shabbat Worship and Temple Meetings and Events:
If you are not feeling well, please stay home. Your health and the health of our community supersede all obligations to attend services or other gatherings. If you are observing a yahrzeit and would like us to adjust the date so that you can attend when feeling better, please call Helen Milstein in our office, and we'll be happy to help (201-848-1800).
Bar/t Mitzvah:
If the flu strikes your immediate family the week of a Bar/t Mitzvah, contact Rabbi Frishman. We are anticipating the possibility that this might happen, and will offer some creative alternatives to make certain that your needs are met.
Communication:
We will be posting updates and links to helpful sites on our Web site. If we need to get information to you quickly, we will post it on our Web site and send you an E-mail, or phone you if you are not on E-mail.
Need Help?
Please contact us, particularly if you are living alone, or you are the responsible adult and are hit with the flu, we can help with food and other support. Our Caring Community can be contacted through Rabbi Frishman or anyone in the Temple Office (Alice K., Helen M., Natalie, Carol), or through Lynn Kaston, our Caring Community coordinator.
